Closed as program error.
Error description
Found that OpenJPA's native query processor performs a check too see if the query is a select query, if it is not, it throws an Exception. This item seems contrary to what the OpenJPA documentation states about native queries being treated as stored procedure calls when the query is not a select query. 11.1 (which says non-select queries are treated as procedure calls.)
