APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Virtual member manage uses Websphere's dynacache to share an LDAP distributed cache amongst cluster members. When the cache is created, it's hard-coded to use SHARED_PUSH policy. Any updates made to the cache are forcibly "pushed" to other nodes in the cell. A configuration parameter will be added that let's the customer specify the cache distribution policy. The default policy will remain SHARED_PUSH. Additional policies will include SHARED_NONE.

When the cache is created, it is hard-coded to use SHARED_PUSH policy. Any updates made to the cache are forcibly "pushed" to other nodes in the cell.
Problem conclusion
A configuration parameter will be added that lets you specify the cache distribution policy. The default policy will remain SHARED_PUSH. Additional policies will include SHARED_NONE. A new parameter, cacheDistPolicy, will be added to following CLIs, whose values can be either none, push, or push_pull. getIdMgrLDAPAttrCache getIdMgrLDAPSearchResultCache setIdMgrLDAPAttrCache setIdMgrLDAPSearchResultCache updateIdMgrLDAPAttrCache updateIdMgrLDAPSearchResultCache These commands are documented here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v6r1/topic/com. ibm.websphere.base.doc/info/aes/ae/rxml_atidmgrrepositoryconfig. html Additional information: # Name of the property cacheDistPolicy # To which products does it apply? Websphere Application Server # To which product versions does it apply? v6.1/V7.0 # What does it do? Specifies the cache distribution policy # Why do I need to use it? To reduce the performance impact of distributing LDAP cache in a cluster # Are there any restrictions on its use? Clustered environment # How/Where do you set the property? Using the wsadmin command line utility # Can it be set using Jython or Jacl? Yes # Can you use the administrative console? No # What is the syntax that you use? $AdminTask setIdMgrLDAPAttrCache {-id ldap1 -cacheDistPolicy none} # What is the default value/setting? push # What are the possible values? none, push, push_pull The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.23 and 7.0.0.3.
