Error description
Using WCT 7.0.0.1 on Windows, the "Export" function creates files that have LF as the end-of-line character instead of both CR and LF. When the files are then FTP'ed to z/OS using an ASCII file transfer, the lack of a CR LF end-of-line character makes the file seem like one long line rather than multiple lines. This causes the file to be truncated on upload. - It is expected that WCT would create files with CR LF, and not just LF only.
Local fix
Some Windows file editors will insert CR LF if the file is opened then saved. Try performing this process before using FTP to send the files to z/OS.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V7.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the the "Export" function * * of the WebSphere Customization Tools * * (WCT), line feed characters can * * cause the generated members to be * * truncated on upload. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The "Export" function of the WCT creates files that have a LF character instead of CR and LF. If those files are then uploaded manually via FTP to z/OS using an ASCII file transfer, the lack of a CR and LF cause the file to be treated as one long line, rather than multiple lines. This causes the file to be truncated on upload.
Problem conclusion
The tooling has been updated to generate files with CR and LF characters designating the end of line, rather than just LF.
