Error description

Migration of a DB2 for z/OS database that hosts a data
store for a messaging engine cannot complete without stopping
that messaging engine in order to allow CATMAINT to be run.

Problem summary

*                  for WebSphere Application Server V6.0,      *
*                  V6.1 and V7.0 using DB2 for z/OS as the     *
*                  data store for a messaging engine.          *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The CATMAINT operation, performed       *
*                      during migration of a DB2 for z/OS      *
*                      database, cannot complete while a       *
*                      messaging engine holds its data store   *
*                      lock.                                   *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:  Stop the messaging engine while the         *
*                  CATMAINT operation is performed.            *
****************************************************************
A messaging engine establishes a lock on its data store so
that it has exclusive access to the data stored within. This
ensures integrity of the data within the data store.

Holding this lock prevents the CATMAINT operation from being
performed while the messaging engine is running.

For most users the appropriate solution is to stop the
messaging engine for the duration of the CATMAINT operation,
and restart it once the operation is complete.

Problem conclusion

The fix for this APAR provides a facility that allows CATMAINT
to be run without stopping the messaging engine.
This facility is not enabled by default, and the CATMAINT
operation will continue to fail with this APAR applied.

Please contact IBM Support to discuss this facility if you
cannot stop the messaging engine while the CATMAINT operation
is performed.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpack 6.0.2.37, 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.5.
