Error description
Environment: - Any J2C Websphere Adapter 6.0.2.x - WS Adapter migration wizard in Administrative Console for IBM WebSphere Process Server or IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.0.2. When an Adapter is installed on application level then it can be updated to another level inside the application running on a server. As an example see Information center: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/dmndhelp/v6rxmx/index.j sp?topic=/com.ibm.wsadapters602.jca_sap.doc/doc/tsap_migrateapps .html / see 'If your adapter application has already been deployed'. When going this way then the names and jndi names of Connection Factories and Activation specs gets overwritten with default values. One example: - Before migration: name="Bapi01.SAPOutboundInterface_CF" jndiName="Bapi01/SAPOutboundInterface_CF" description="Bapi01/SAPOutboundInterface_CF" Expected result: For above merge modes there should be no change for 'name' and 'jndi name' (the existing values should be used as there is no matching entry in the deployment descriptor in the new adapter). - Actual result after migration name="javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory-1" jndiName="eis/javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory-1" description="Bapi01/SAPOutboundInterface_CF" The content of the CF/AS remains untouched. This is true for merge modes "merge new and existing bindings" and "use existing bindings". Also, the same is valid for using $AdminApp update with flag -update.ignore.new

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of IBM WebSphere Application Server * * versions 6.0.2 and above * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Name and jndi name of * * J2CConnectionFactory definition were * * replaced with defaults, during single * * module update. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The name and jndi name of a J2CConnectionFactory binding in an embedded connector module of an application were replaced with the default values, while updating the connector module. During module update, the J2CConnectionFactory bindings that exist in the deployed application, but not exist in the new module were being missed out while merging the bindings. Hence, it was assumed as the name and jndi name of that J2CConnectionFactory were not provided and so the default name and jndi name were being set to that configuration.
Problem conclusion
The fix will read the name and jndi name of the J2CConnectionFactory bindings from the deployed application and set the same in the new module, during update. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.0.2.37, 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.5.
