Error description
The messages for Simplified Chinese in WebSphere Application Server v7.0 are placed in two different directories, properties/messages/zh, and properties/messages/zh_CN. There should only be a zh directory.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * on Simplified Chinese machines * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Simplified Chinese messages are not * * displaying because the CEI messages * * are copied to the wrong directory. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) messages for Simplified Chinese are copied under: WAS_HOME/properties/messages/zh_CN. All the other components are using: WAS_HOME/properties/messages/zh directory for Simplified Chinese. The zh_CN director prevents the other Simplified Messages from displaying.
Problem conclusion
The code was fixed so that the CEI messages will be copied to the same directory the other components use. This way the zh_CN directory will not be created. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.25 and 7.0.0.5.
