APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The wsdb2gen tool produces an excessive number of warnings while analyzing entity persistant fields. For example: 9504 TestWsDB2Gen WARN [main] wsjpa.Sqlgen - java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: java.sql.Date.<init>(java.lang.String) java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: java.sql.Date.<init>(java.lang.String) at java.lang.Class.throwNoSuchMethodException(Class.java:283) at java.lang.Class.getConstructor(Class.java:328) at com.ibm.ws.persistence.pdqstatic.gen.StaticSQLGenUtil.constructO bjFromCl ass(StaticSQLGenUtil.java:406) at com.ibm.ws.persistence.pdqstatic.gen.StaticSelectStmt.generateNa medQuery Stmt(StaticSelectStmt.java:241)
Local fix
No work around but a candidate fix for next release.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The wsdb2gen tool produces an * * excessive number of warning messages * * reporting NoSuchMethodException * * exceptions. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** While processing, the wsdb2gen tool instantiates entity classes and its field types. The instantiation routine attempts to use a non-default constructor, in the case reported, a single java.lang.String. Not all classes (such as java.sql.Date in this instance) have a constructor with that single argument -- the resulting NoSuchMethodException reported on standard output and then the next constructor type is attempted. The occurrence of the NoSuchMethodException is not a fatal error. It simply documents that the tool tried to use the single java.lang.String constructor argument, found that that did not work, and then moved on to trying a different constructor. This can lead to a great deal of unnecessary warning messages printed to the console.
Problem conclusion
The catch block that intercepts the NoSuchMethodException has been updated to take note that this Exception was thrown when logging is enabled. When logging is disabled, the Exception will be quietly swallowed and not logged. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.5.
