Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server versions * * 6.1 and 7.0 users of the JavaServer * * Pages(JSP) attribute 'jspClassLoaderLimit'. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A JSP which is loaded as part of a * * forward or include request will not * * be tracked as part of the * * jspClassLoaderLimit. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When jspClassLoaderLimit is specified, it currently does not track JSP requests that are loaded as part of a forward or include request. This can lead to more JSP classloaders in memory than specified in the application configuration. In particular, architectures which heavily utilize includes and forwards, as in some model-view-controller designs, are susceptible to this problem.
Problem conclusion
The WebContainer code was modified to allow an application to specify that forward and include JSP requests should be tracked as part of the jspClassLoaderLimit. A new boolean JSP attribute, jspClassLoaderLimit.TrackIncludesAndForwards, was created to allow for enabling this setting. The jspClassLoaderLimit JSP attribute must also be specified in order for this new setting to take effect. For example: <jspAttributes xmi:id="JSPAttribute_1" name="jspClassLoaderLimit" value="1500"/> <jspAttributes xmi:id="JSPAttribute_2" name="jspClassLoaderLimit.TrackIncludesAndForwards" value="true"/> The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.25 and 7.0.0.5.
