Error description

Multiple durable subscriptions with the same subscription id
were created within the bus. This should be impossible.

Once these subscriptions had been created, symptoms included
a build-up of messages on the topic space that were not
consumed by the application, because they were on different
subscriptions with the same subscription id.

Also when attempting to delete subscriptions, the following
exception was seen:
javax.management.MBeanException: Exception thrown in
RequiredModelMBean while trying to invoke operation
deleteSubscription
at javax.management.modelmbean.RequiredModelMBean.
               invokeMethod(RequiredModelMBean.java:1116)
caused by
com.ibm.ws.sib.admin.exception.ControllableNotFoundException

Problem summary

When a subscription containing in-doubt messages is deleted,
the messaging engine cannot fully clean up the subscription
until the transactions involved are completed.

The problem in this APAR was caused because each time a new
subscription was created and deleted, while this in-doubt
deleted subscription exists, the persistent state associated
with that subscription was not deleted.
Instead, the messaging engine re-marked the subscription
containing in-doubt messages as deleted.

This meant that after the messaging engine was restarted, the
deleted subscriptions all reappeared.
As it should not be possible for multiple durable
subscriptions with the same identifier to exist, problems were
seen attempting to use or delete the subscriptions.

Problem conclusion

The fix for this APAR prevents new duplicate subscriptions
from being created after the fix is applied, by correcting the
deletion logic. The steps described in the Circumvention
section should be followed to clean up any duplicate
subscriptions that were created before the fix was applied.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.5.  Please refer to the
