Error description

When the webservices engine HttpOutboundChannelConnection
release method calls the http channel
HttpOutboundServiceContextImpl clear method, a
NullPointerException can occur.

The web services runtime maintains a pool of connections.  In
high load scenarios, connections that are not being used are
released so that other connections can be established.
During the release of one of these unused connections, an
error may occur.

The root of the problem is the communication between the web
service connection pool code and the transport layer.

Problem conclusion

The web service connection pool frequently releases unused
connections from the underlying transport layer.  Prior APARs
have corrected problems between these two layers of code.

However while investigating this particular problem, the
architects decided that an error during the release of a closed
connection should not cause a fatal exception for the new web
service invocation.  The code has been changed to tolerate the
error, and provide new sophisticated debug trace.  This change
will allow customers to avoid failures and provide the
necessary information to help fix future errors.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.5.  Please refer to the
