Error description

The customer is getting java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException
when <fmt:formatNumber>is used. This is due to '$' character as
the last character in a CDATA section that had previously
included in an EL expression. The JSP translation code has a
check to make sure that the next char is a '{' to ensure that
any $ reference really is the start of an EL expression. Since
the '$' char was the last char in the CDATA section in this
case due to the immediately following jsp tag for the number
formatter, this index out of bound runtime exception is hit.

When validating EL expressions during JSP translation, if a
'$' character is encountered in a CDATA section, the JSP code
checks that the next character is '{' prior to validating the
expression.  In the situation where the '$' character is the
last character in the CDATA section, there is no next
character, thus an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException is thrown.

Problem conclusion

The JSP engine was modified to properly handle the '$'
character as the last character in a CDATA section.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.5.  Please refer to the
