Running Websphere 7.0 scripts on IBM i results in exception in
WsSwapProc essor.preInvoke()  No data authority updates
preformed on directory /home/<userid>

Local fix

On IBM i command line
mkdir '/home/<userProfile name>/.qwas_client'

Additionally, if WS_ANT scripts will be called
mkdir '/home/<userProfile name>/.java'

Problem summary

*                      -Djava.user.prefs.userRoot property     *
*                      defined in the setupCmdLine script.     *

*                      WsSwapProcessor.preInvoke() to fail     *
*                      searching for an incorrect directory    *
*                      name.                                   *

The default preferences directory for java is
'/<user.name>/.java' if the java property
'java.user.prefs.userRoot' has not been set. The
WsSwapProcessor.preInvoke() made an incorrect assumption that
this java property would always be set when client scripts
were called because it is defined in the setupCmdLine script
that all Websphere client scripts invoke.  When using ws_ant
this property is not passed to embedded wsadmin calls,
resulting in the failure in WsSwapProcessor.preInvoke().

Problem conclusion

The WsSwapProcessor.preInvoke() code has been changed to check
the value of the java property 'java.user.prefs.userRoot' and
if it has not been set, to search the default java directory
of '/<user.home>/.java'.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.5.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
