Error description

Users of WebSphere Application Server 6.1.0.19 to 6.1.0.25.

Operations on applications installed with the zeroEarCopy option
sometimes fail when an HTTP server node is configured on a
standalone cell.  Other error messages specific to the operation
might be printed, but the underlying problem contains a message
similar to the following:

     com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException: Can
not instantiate earfile for: <earname>

where <earname> is the name of the application ear file, such as
isclite.ear.

Installation of Tivoli Access Manager Web Portal Manager on
WebSphere Application Server version 6.1.0.21 fails because it
is unable to update the isclite system application. The
problem only occurs with standalone cells with an HTTP server
configured on a second node. The application update fails with
the following exception:

com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException: Can not
instantiate earfile for: isclite.ear at
com.ibm.ws.management.application.task.ConfigRepoHelper.getEarFi
leFromBinaries(ConfigRepoHelper.java:263) at
com.ibm.ws.management.application.task.ConfigRepoHelper.getEarFi
leFromBinaries(ConfigRepoHelper.java:210) at
com.ibm.ws.sca.internal.deployment.SCAAbstractTask.getEARFile(SC
AAbstractTask.java:505)

Problem conclusion

Corrected logic to enable the isclite application to be updated.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpack 6.1.0.27. A similar fix is currently targeted for
inclusion in fixpack 7.0.0.7 even though Portal Manager at
this time does not support version 7 of WebSphere Application
Server. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
