Error description

When an attempt is made to enable statistics within the
SIB Communications group, no statistics are enabled.
For example the following PMI stats string should enable some
statistics within the SIB Communications group:
"SIB Service > SIB Communications > Messaging Engines >
Standard Statistics=3"

Local fix

A workaround to use the StatGroup variable exists by changing
the name of the SIB Communications module and its children to
thevariables that aremeant to be translated.Sothe
"SIB Service>SIB Communications>MessagingEngines>Standard
Statistics=503,510,511" stat string would be changed to "SIB
Service>StatGroup.Communications>StatGroup.MessagingEngines>Stat
Group.MessagingEnginesStandard=3,10,11".

The PMI statistics are not enabled using a correct specified
stats string because the SIB Service > SIB Communication
module and its children register the statistics in the
native language, rather than with the documented English names.

Problem conclusion

This fix for this APAR allows the PMI statistic in the SIB
Communications family to be enabled using the English
names documented in the "Communications counters" section of
the information center.

Any scripts that had previously worked around this problem by
using an undocumented translation of the PMI statistic names
would need to be updated to use the documented English names.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.0.2.37, 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.7.  Please refer to the
