Error description
Error Description: Entities extending from a MappedSuperclass that defines primary key fields (@Id attributes) can exhibit unintended inheritance relationships. For example, a MappedSuperclass MSCEmployee is extended by two entities, PTEmployee and FTEmployee. A persistence context will see PTEmployee(id=1) and FTEmployee(id=1) as the same primary key/type and not allow both to coexist at the same time in the persistence context. This is incorrect behavior since the MappedSuperclass annotation does not by itself endorse any of the three supported JPA Inheritance mechanisms.
Local fix
Candidate to be fixed in next release.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 using Java Persistence API (JPA)* **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Entity types extending from a common * * Mapped Superclass that defines @Id * * attributes express an invalid JPA * * inheritance behavior. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Entity Object ID data structure used by OpenJPA used the Mapped Superclass instead of the Entity as the identifying type, when the @Id fields are defined on the Mapped Superclass. This created a situation where two Entities with equal primary key values extending the same Mapped Superclass could not co-exist in the Persistence Context.
Problem conclusion
The algorithm has been enhanced to identify when @Id fields are declared by a Mapped Superclass, and choose the appropriate type in the Object ID for the target Entity. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.7.
