Error description

WebSphere 6.1 Base/ND using a .kdb (CMS) keystore with a private
CA certificate fails to access the Adminconsole.

WebSphere fails to establish SSL connection due to the case
sensitivity of KeyManager. When a CMS keystore is used,
KeyManager needs to treat key alias name as case sensitive,
however the current code it treats as case insensitive. As a
result, chooseServerAlias() method always returns all lowercase
alias name to JSSE2. This causes JSSE2  to fail to select a
proper alias name.

Local fix

Use self-signed certificates instead of a CA certificate

Although CMS keystore supports mixed case alias name,
WebSphere Application Server always converts mixed case alias
name to all lowercase string. As a result, certificate
of which alias name contains uppercase characters, cannot
be extraced from CMS keystore.

Problem conclusion

With this fix, if CMS keystore is used, alias name is no longer
converted to all lowercase string.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.7.  Please refer to the Recommended
