APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When using the "Update global Web server plug-in" in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative console, the Plugin Generation does not update server parameters for non-clustered servers correctly If the plugin-cfg.xml file exists within the [WAS_HOME]dmgrcells directory, the plugin generation process ignores the updated values from the Application Server > Web Server Plugin Properties panel of the administrative console and uses the existing values within the plugin-cfg.xml file. This is occurs on WebSphere Application Server version 6.1.
Local fix
Manually update the plugin-cfg.xml file to update the values. or Delete the current plugin-cfg.xml file under [WAS_HOME]\dmgr\ cells and regenerate the plugin-cfg.xml file. Then the changes to the appserver plug-in values are updated successfully in a new plugin-cfg.xml.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Cell wide plugin generation does not * * properly set <Server> tag values for * * non clustered servers * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** <Server> level values like ConnectTimeOut are not set correctly when generating the cell wide plugin through [environment/Update gloval Web Server plug-in configuration] if the following conditions are present: 1. [WebSphere App Server]/profiles/Dmgr/config/cells/plugin-cfg.xml already exists 2. Multiple standalone servers are defined (not clustered)
Problem conclusion
Corrected the application to properly recognize the non-clustered servers. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.0.2.37, 6.1.0.27, and 7.0.0.7.
