Error description
Prior to this feature, users of SOAP/JMS within the JAX-WS and JAX-RPC web services stacks were limited to the use of BytesMessage for the transmission of SOAP messages between web service components (for example, client and server). This APAR adds support for TextMessages for those users who would prefer to use TextMessages instead of BytesMessages.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 users * * of the web services SOAP over JMS transport.* **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users of SOAP over JMS within web * * services can now use JMS * * TextMessages for transmitting SOAP * * requests and responses. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After installing the fix pack containing * * this change, you may use the "messageType" * * property to specify the type of JMS * * message used to transmit SOAP requests and * * responses. * **************************************************************** The web services SOAP over JMS component within the Application Server did not allow you to specify the type of JMS message that should be used to transmit SOAP requests or responses. Consequently, only JMS BytesMessages were used. With this APAR, you now have the ability to request that JMS TextMessages are used by the SOAP over JMS component for transmitting SOAP messages.
Problem conclusion
You can now set the "messageType" property in a variety of ways to specify the use of either BytesMessages or TextMessages for transmitting SOAP requests or responses over the JMS transport. For details on how to specify this property, please see the accompanying Information Center documentation. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.5.
