Error description

  • org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM received in WebSphere Application
Server for z/OS controller address space.

Also, a ReadOverflowException occurred while processing the
    BAD_PARAM exception.

The BAD_PARAM exception was received in the controller address
space processing a MDB Request from the servers CRA address
space. The processing the MDB Request was during STOP command
processing. The controller was rejecting new work because of
the STOP command. When handling the rejection of a SIB request
targeted to a servant the IIOP response filters were erroneously
driven for the MDB SIB Request. The IIOP response filters drove
the ORB.ObjectKey class with a null bytearray which results in
    the BAD_PARAM exception.

The BAD_PARAM exception was caused by invoking the IIOP
outbound response filters with a Null ObjectKey. The request
flow that produced this exception was a MDB SIB Request from
    the CRA.

A ReadOverflowException exception was observed following the
BAD_PARM exception described above. The readOverflow
exception was caused by using the wrong endian while building
the Exception into the native request object (the
    ORB_Request).

    BBOO0010W The function EncapIIOP::throwReadOverflowException()
+7872 raised CORBA system exception CORBA::INTERNAL. Error
      code is C9C23101.

Problem conclusion

  • MDB Requests do not have ObjectKeys in the ORB_Request
created natively to represent the request. The RMI IIOP
filters should not be called for MDB Request flows.
Code was modified in outbound response path to direct the MDB
requests from the CRA to an MDB response path. This path does
not invoke the IIOP outbound filter code.

To fix the ReadOverflowException the setSystemExceptionInORBR
method (ZIOPChannelBridge.java) was modified to specify big
endian when building the exception into the ORB_Request.

APAR PK88900 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.7 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0
    for z/OS.
