The NullPointerException in the ClientDelegate class
lookupServant method is the consequence of a code change
introduced in 7.0.0.4. The 7.0.0.4 code change removes a
ClientDelegate object when a CORBA servant is
disconnected. This is correct processing. The
NullPointerException occurs on the subsequent attempt to
reconnect the CORBA servant because the registry value has
not been set in the new delegate object.

Problem conclusion

A change has been made to the Software Development Kit
to set the registry value as part of reconnect processing
invoked by the connect method of the WebSphere Application
Server ClientDelegate class.

A change has also been made to the WebSphere Application
Server ClientDelegate class to wrap any exception (including a
NullPointerException) in a CORBA OBJECT_NOT_EXIST exception
when an expected local servant is not found. This more
accurately describes the nature of the exception and the
underlying cause.

APAR PK88950 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.5 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
