Error description

The "-classpath" option specified as Generic JVM arguments can
not be retrieved correctly after applying Fix pack 21 on
WebSphere Application Server V6.1.
Before applying FP21, the class path specified as Generic JVM
arguments will be added in class path when launching a server
process. However after applying FP21, the class path can not be
retrieved correctly and the process fails to start with the
following error message in native_stderr.log. Following is the
example when specifying -classpath C:/test/Sample.jar as a
Generic JVM arguments and fails to start the process;

Local fix

Specify the class path as a classpath property by administrative
console as follows;

Application servers > server1 > Process Definition > Java
Virtual Machine

Specify the class path in the box next to the Classpath in
Configuration tab.

The "-classpath" option specified as Generic JVM arguments
cannot be retrieved correctly after applying Fix pack 21 on
WebSphere Application Server V6.1.
Before applying FP21, the classpath specified as Generic JVM
arguments will be added to classpath when launching a server
process. However after applying FP21, the classpath cannot be
retrieved correctly and the process fails to start with the
following error message in native_stderr.log.
Following is the
example when specifying -classpath C:/test/Sample.jar as a
Generic JVM argument and fails to start the process;

Problem conclusion

Code was modified to properly handle the classpath option in
Generic JVM Arguments.
In addition, a related problem was also fixed where
a Generic JVM argument for a server process contains
quotes, the quotes are not processed properly and a wrong JVM
argument value is used. Code is fixed to process the quotes
correctly.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.7.
