Error description

There is a restriction in configservice code that prevents a
special character from being used in attribute Name. The
administrative console bypasses this restriction and therefore
is able to be set, but only manually. If the restriction was
fixed for wsadmin it would enable scripting options to set
this value correctly.

Use the admin console to manually set the value.

Problem summary

*                  relaxed to be consistent with the           *
*                  administrative console and to allow         *
*                  scripting of actions already allowed by     *
*                  the console.                                *

Attempting to create a JVM property with a special character
will result in a validation error:
WASX7015E: Exception running command:
followed by:
com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.InvalidAttributeValExcept
ion: ADMG0013E: The attribute value for attribute path
systemProperties,name is not valid.

Problem conclusion

To avoid changing documented behavior in the fix stream,
the default wsadmin behavior after this fix is applied is
unchanged. This fix will allow the user to disable character
validation in property names set by wsadmin. In
order to set property names with special characters, property
name validation must be disabled by setting a Java system
property:

com.ibm.websphere.management.configservice.validatePropNames=fal
se

When using wsadmin in connected mode, this property should be
set at the deployment manager server using the
AdminTask.setJVMSystemProperties command, or through the admin
console.

When using wsadmin in LOCAL mode (conntype=none), the property
can be passed in as a javaoption:

-javaoption
"-Dcom.ibm.websphere.management.configservice.validatePropNames=
false"

to wsadmin.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
