APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Container forwards ACK for non-2xx response to the application.
    .
When the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) container sends an
error response to INVITE, and then receives an ACK to the
response, it passes the ACK message up to the application.
    This contradicts JSR 289 10.2.8/11.2.2 and JSR 116 7.2.2/8.2.7.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The problem occurs when the application receives INVITE,
and replies to it with an error response (response with
status code 300-699). This triggers an ACK, according to RFC
3261, figure 7. The container presents the ACK to
the application. This is a violation of:
o RFC 3261, figure 7 (the transaction should not pass the ACK
    to the transaction user)
    o JSR 116, sections 7.2.2 and 8.2.7
    o JSR 289, sections 10.2.8 and 11.2.2

Problem conclusion

  • With the fix for this APAR, the application will not receive
the ACK for an error response. This fix does not affect ACK
for success responses (status code 2xx).

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.29 and 7.0.0.9. Please refer to the
