Error description

Support required to enable a workload distribution algorithm to
distribute work evenly among servants while compensating for
servants which are temporarily slowed.

When choosing not to use WLM for workload distribution,
WebSphere Application Server for z/OS has two workload
distribution algorithms, Hot Thread and Round Robin. These are
chosen by assigning values of 0 (Hot Thread) or 1 (Round
Robin) to environment
variable server_work_distribution_algorithm. A third workload
distribution algorithm, Hot Robin, is now available by
setting a value of 2. Hot Robin will distribute work evenly
across the servants, but unlike Round Robin, it will
not queue work to a servant region that has no threads
available. Instead, it will off-load that work to another
servant region that has threads available to handle new work.

Problem conclusion

A third workload distribution algorithm is now available for
non-WLM work queueing. To use Hot Robin, set
server_work_distribution_algorithm to 2.

APAR PK93395 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.7 of WebSphere
Application Server
