Error description

  • When installing an application containing an EJB module that
is prior to EJB version 3.0, and the module contains a JAX-WS
client, the application installation fails with the following
    error:

    com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException:
ADMA5055E: Errors in validating application target association
    for <appName> - CWSAD0071W: EJB <someEJB>.jar
implemented as JAX-WS Web services bean is not an EJB 3.0.

    ****************************************************************
An EJB module that is prior to EJB version 3.0, is not allowed
to contain a JAX-WS endpoint. In such cases, the installation
of the module will correctly fail with the following error:

    com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException:
ADMA5055E: Errors in validating application target association
    for <appName> - CWSAD0071W: EJB <someEJB>.jar
implemented as JAX-WS Web services bean is not an EJB 3.0.

However, the installation should not fail if the JAX-WS
application is not an endpoint. If a customer has a JAX-WS
application that is not an endpoint, the following error may
    incorrectly occur:

    com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException:
ADMA5055E: Errors in validating application target association
    for <appName> - CWSAD0071W: EJB <someEJB>.jar
implemented as JAX-WS Web services bean is not an EJB 3.0.

    Example Exception:

    com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException:
ADMA5055E: Errors in validating application target association
    for <name> -
    CWSAD0071W: EJB <someEJB>.jar implemented as JAX-WS
Web services bean is not an EJB 3.0.

Problem conclusion

  • The Web Services application deployment validation requires
that an EJB module with a JAX-WS endpoint must be at the EJB
    version 3.0.

However the validation engine did not correctly differentiate
between JAX-WS endpoints and other JAX-WS (client)
applications. Thus the error was incorrectly issued in some
    cases.

The validation engine is changed to only throw the error if a
JAX-WS endpoint is detected and the EJB level is less than EJB
    version 3.0.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.9. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
