Error description

When configuring WS-Security binding via either the
administrative console or wsadmin, if the binding file has a
keyInfo element, the administrative console or wsadmin may
fail with a CWPST0052E error. Once this error happens, you
cannot configure that binding anymore even if you pass in all
the correct parameters.

When configuring WS-Security binding via either administrative
console or wsadmin, if the binding file has a keyInfo
element, it may not be possible to update the binding.

Every attempt to update the binding results in a
CWPST0052E error even if you pass in all the correct
parameters. Enabling the com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.admin.*=all
trace string will show the following warning message:
 CWWSI9010W: The value for the Type element under the KeyInfo
element is not valid.

This problem only exists when running Application Server with
JDK 1.6 SR6.

Problem conclusion

A JAXB update in JDK 1.6 SR6 automatically writes an
attribute with the value of "" if the attribute is required
and not yet set. This extra attribute with the value of
"" causes a failure in WS-Security binding administrative
command.

The code has been updated to tolerate the additional attribute
with the empty string.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.7.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
