Error description

When routing HTTP requests through the proxy, the end user may
see that requests are not being sent to the servers they
expected (if session based or otherwise have some
state-dependent data on the servers).

In conjunction with that behavior, they would also see a
NullPointer Exception in UCFHttpRouterFilter the FFDC logs
similar to the following:

Exception:java.lang.NullPointerException
SourceId:com.ibm.ws.proxy.filter.ucf.UCFHttpRouterFilter.doFilte
r
ProbeId:314 java.lang.NullPointerException

This is due to the workload management component setting the
memberIdentity for the request multiple times.

Problem conclusion

This problem was due to the workload management (WLM) component
setting the memberIdentity for the request multiple times.
This APAR addresses the issue by ensuring the WLM code sets the
memberIdentity only a single time for each request, thus
avoiding the NullPointerException

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
