Error description

This APAR fixes a problem whereby certain uses of the @Resource
annotation might inadvertently cause a validation error.

For example, consider the following code snippet:

package my.package;
class A {

   @Resource(name="jndi/parm1", type=java.lang.Integer.class)
   private int parm1 = 0;

   private int parm2;

   @Resource(name="jndi/parm2", type=java.lang.Integer.class)
   public void setParm2(int i) {
      parm2 = i;
   }

   ...
}

In the example above, there is a field level annotation on the
"parm1" field and a method level annotation on the "setParm2"
method.   In each case, the @Resource annotation involves a
field or method associated with a primitive type ("int" in this
example).    If the @Resource annotation specifies the "type"
attribute as in the example above, then a false validation
error might occur, such as the following:

WSWS7245E: An @Resource or @WebServiceRef annotation on the
parm1 member in the my.package.A class specifies the
java.lang.Integer type which is not compatible with the int
type targetted for injection.

This error is incorrect, as a java.lang.Integer type is in fact
compatible with the int field type.

This APAR fixes the incorrect validation error involving
primitive types.

Incorrect @Resource validation errors might occur in
situations where the annotation specifies a "type" attribute
and the injection target is a field declared as a primitive
type.

The following is an example of an error that might occur:
   WSWS7245E: An @Resource or @WebServiceRef annotation on
the parm1 member in the my.package.A class specifies the
java.lang.Integer type which is not compatible
with the int type targetted for injection.

Problem conclusion

The annotation validation function was modified to avoid
incorrect validation errors involving primitive types.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.7.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
