Error description

Error may occur when attempting to migrate a standalone
WebSphere Application Server from V6.1 to V7.0 on UNIX
operating systems.

The scenario is:

The following required migration scripts are used:
(manageprofiles, WASPreUpgrade, and WASPostUpgrade).

When the WASPostUpgrade script is run, an error may be issued
from updateARSconfig.

Here is a sample error from the error log:

While attempting to migrate the standalone WebSphere
Application Server from v6.1 to v7.0 you may receive an error
from 'updateARSconfig'.

During migration, the three required migration scripts
are run (manageprofiles, WASPreUpgrade, WASPostUpgrade).

The following error may occur while running WASPostUpgrade,
with updateARSconfig throwing the following execption:

The exception happens during the installation of the Async
Response Servlet (ARS), a required part of the migration
which is needed for JAX-WS applications.

Problem conclusion

The exception occurs on Unix because the '$' character, which
is special on Unix, is not being handled correctly. This is
happening while running the wsadmin command. A correction was
made to properly handle the '$' character for Unix based
processing.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.7.  Please refer to the Recommended
