Error description

A java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError occurs after servant shutdown
when an FFDC entry is being taken.

A java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError is thrown during
server shutdown in the
com.ibm.ws.asynchbeans.am.AlarmManagerThread class. This
exception is thrown during the invocation of
FFDCFilter.processException. On z/OS, by default WebSphere
will try to wake all threads (including daemon ones) as part
of server shutdown. So WebSphere tries to wake the
AlarmManagerThread which is a daemon thread and this results
in the java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError since FFDC is no longer
available.

Problem conclusion

A new check has been added for the NoClassDefFoundError
in the com.ibm.ws.asynchbeans.am.AlarmManagerThread class and
the daemon thread is stopped gracefully whenever this error
occurs.

APAR PK98313 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.9 of WebSphere
Application Server V7.0
