Error description

Over time, customer notices that ECSA storage consumed by the
WebSphere Daemon address space continues to grow.

Analysis of ECSA storage with IP
VERBX VSMDATA OWNCOMM(CSA) DETAIL ASIDLIST(xxx)
shows many allocations for the WebSphere daemon with
an eyecatcher of *SRBF Dynamic Are*

Local fix

Do not set WebSphere variable
control_region_timeout_dump_action.

When control_region_timeout_dump_action=javacore an SRB is
scheduled. The Scheduling of the SRB might fail. If it does we
generate an ABEND and percolate, driving us through the flow
that leaks these dynamic areas.

In certain situations the Controller address space of a
WebSphere Application Server for z/OS will issue an
ABENDCC3/ABENDSCC3 trying to schedule work to a Servant that no
longer exists.  The abend itself is working as designed,
however the recovery code for the abend does not free up
certain dynamic areas in common storage, causing a slow leak.

Problem conclusion

Recovery code for ABENDCC3/ABENDSCC3 has been updated to free
the dynamic areas that were being leaked.

APAR PK98758 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.9 of WebSphere Application Server.
