Error description

LDAP server failover does not work as expected. It takes a long
time for virtual member manager (VMM) to failover to the
secondary LDAP server. Then, even if the primary LDAP
server is still down (TCP connection is dead), VMM attempts to
reconnect to the failed primary server. As result, a new
delay occurs.

LDAP server failover does not work as expected. It takes a
long time for virtual member manager (VMM) to
failover to the secondary LDAP server. Then, even if the
primary LDAP server is still down (TCP connection is dead), VMM
attempts to reconnect to the failed primary server. As result,
a new delay occurs.

Problem conclusion

If an LDAP connection fails, VMM will move all new and pooled
connections to the next available server in the list.
It will not reuse any connections that have failed. It will
periodically test the connection to the primary server, after
the specified interval.
Once the primary server is active again, the same mechanism
will move all new and pooled connections back to the primary
server.

On Websphere Application Server 7.0, the connectTimeout
parameter in wimconfig.xml will also be used as a read timeout
for dead TCP connections.  On Websphere Application Server
6.1, the read timeout for dead TCP connections is controlled
by the operating system.

set the connection timeout and primary server query interval.

fix packs 6.1.0.31 and 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the
