APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When an administrator deploys a JAX-WS Web Services application to WebSphere Application Server V7, the administrator may observe this error during application start-up: WSWS7055E: The WEB-INF/wsdl/Some.wsdl Web Services Description Language (WSDL) file specified by annotations in class com.somepackage.SomeWebService cannot be loaded correctly due to the following error: java.lang.RuntimeException: WSWS7035E: The ../schema/Some_schema1.xsd metadata file could not be found.
Local fix
Place all XSD schema files in WEB-INF/wsdl folder and update all references in the wsdl which refer the XSD schema files.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 * * administrators of JAX-WS applications. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WSWS7055E may occur during * * Application Server startup for JAX-WS * * applications. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fixpack containing this APAR. * **************************************************************** When an administrator deploys a JAX-WS Web Services application to WebSphere V7, the administrator may observe this error during application start-up: WSWS7055E: The WEB-INF/wsdl/Some.wsdl Web Services Description Language (WSDL) file specified by annotations in class com.somepackage.SomeWebService cannot be loaded correctly due to the following error: java.lang.RuntimeException: WSWS7035E: The ../schema/Some_schema1.xsd metadata file could not be found. This error happens when the application is packaged such that the "Some_schema1.xsd" file is not located under the WEB-INF/wsdl subdirectory.
Problem conclusion
During application install, some resources are expanded from the ear file to speed up future accesses. This includes files under the WEB-INF/wsdl directory. From that point, the webservices runtime attempts to locate the resources only in the expanded location. In this case, because the xsd file was not located under WEB-INF/wsdl, it did not get expanded and the attempt to find the resource failed. The same scenario may occur with META-INF/wsdl directories. The runtime has been corrected to also attempt to load the resource from the compressed ear file. This will not be as performant as a load from the expanded location. Package xsd files under the wsdl subdirectory to avoid this performance penalty. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.11.
