Error description
AdminControl checkPassword commands incorrectly invokes Local OS registry instead of active User Registry. Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V6.1 and V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: AdminControl checkPassword command * * fails for non-local OS user registries. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The checkPassword method was incorrectly setting the user registry to always be local OS, and so the password was being checked against the local OS instead of the active user registry configured in WebSphere Application Server.
Problem conclusion
The checkPassword method was corrected to set the user registry to the active user registry configured in WebSphere Application Server so that password checks are performed against the correct user registry. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.31 and 7.0.0.9.
