PM00729: Performance degradation due to excessive garbage collection of CustomProvider objects

Error description

You may notice a small performance degradation in the following
two scenarios:
1) You are invoking a large number of JAX-RPC applications.
2) You are invoking a large number of Service Component
Architecture (SCA) applications that use a web service binding.

In both of these scenarios, an administrator may notice a
large number of garbage collection operations for the
following class:
com.ibm.ws.webservices.engine.encoding.custom.CustomProvider

You may notice a small performance degradation in the

In both of these scenarios, an administrator may notice a
large number of garbage collection operations for the
following class:
   com.ibm.ws.webservices.engine.encoding.custom.CustomProvider

Problem conclusion

The JAX-RPC runtime caches the CustomProvider objects for high
performance.  Due to a flaw in the algorithm, this cache was
implemented as a weak reference.  As a result, the cached
information was too frequently deleted by the JVM garbage
collector.

The algorithm is changed to ensure that the cache is only
deleted if the amount of available memory is low.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
