Error description

A customer may notice a performance degradation if a JAX-WS
application contains classes that implement
javax.ejb.SessionBean.

The reported performance degradation is less than one minute
and only occurs the first time the JAX-WS application is
invoked.   Also, the performance degradation seems to only occur
when the WebSphere Application Server is run within the Rational
Application Developer tool.

A customer may notice a performance degradation if a JAX-WS
application contains classes that implement
javax.ejb.SessionBean.

The reported performance degradation is less than one minute
and only occurs the first time the JAX-WS application is
invoked.   Also, the performance degradation has only been
reported when the WebSphere Application Server is run within
the Rational Application Developer tool.

Even though this delay is relatively small, it impacts
developers who use the tool to construct web service
applications.

Problem conclusion

The JAX-WS runtime inspects the customer's web service and
automatically constructs the JAXB framework (which is called a
JAXBContext).   In some situations, the presence of classes
that implement javax.ejb.SessionBean will slow down the code
that constructs the JAXB framework.

The classes that implement SessionBean are not needed by the
JAXB framework.

The JAX-WS runtime is changed to detect the classes that
implement SessionBean and correctly excludes them from the
JAXB framework construction.  The result is a much faster
construction of the JAXB framework.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
