Error description

While running a JAX-RPC application a WSWS0308E error occurs.

The JAX-RPC runtime converts an inbound XML message into
JAX-RPC Java beans.  This conversion is referred to as JAX-RPC
deserialization.  The JAX-RPC specification defines the
mapping of XML to Java beans.

In this particular case, the deserialization fails with the
following error:

WSWS3080E: ERROR: could not convert
ArrayDeserializer$ArrayListExtension

The failure occurred while deserializing XML similar to the
following.  The schema for the value element indicates that
it is an an "xsd:anySimpleType".

The JAX-RPC specification indicates that a series of
anySimpleType elements is mapped to an array of
java.lang.String.   However note that the second value in the
message indicates that the type of the element is an "xsd:int"
(which is kind of "xsd:anySimpleType").

The JAX-RPC engine fails while trying to store the second
value into the String array.

This is a very rare scenario.

Problem conclusion

The JAX-RPC runtime is changed to correctly identify this
scenario and correctly convert non-String components into
String components.  This change avoids the WSWS0308E error.


The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.0.2.41, 6.1.0.31, and 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the
