PM01942: THE "CLIENT AFFINITY" FEATURE DOES NOT WORK

Error description

DB2 for LUW, v9.5 and later has a "client affinities" feature
in the JDBC driver. The client affinities feature is not
enabled correctly by WebSphere Application Server v7.0.  This
may cause DB2 cascaded failover to not work correctly.

A DB2 JCC driver trace will show that the
clientRerouteAlternateServerName and
clientRerouteAlternatePortNumber DataSource properties are not
set as configured in the WebSphere Application Server
DataSource custom properties.

The enableClientAffinitiesList feature of the IBM Data Server
Driver for JDBC and SQLJ does not work properly with WebSphere
Application Server v7.0. This is because WebSphere Application
Server removes the DataSource custom properties
clientRerouteAlternateServerName and
clientRerouteAlternatePortNumber properties instead of setting
those properties on the DataSource.  The information in those
properties is supplied to the DataSource by another mechanism,
but this mechanism is not compatible with the client
affinities feature.  The incompatible behavior was introduced
in v7.0 as part of the processing for the DB2 client reroute
feature.  The client affinities feature was not introduced by
DB2 until later.

Problem conclusion

The IBM WebSphere Application Server code is changed so that
if the enableClientAffinitiesList property is set to "1"
(enabled) in DataSource custom properties then some processing
for the client reroute feature is bypassed.  This client
reroute processing is necessary for proper operation of certain
client reroute features, but interferes with the
enableClientAffinitiesList feature.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
