APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When using Derived Key Tokens (DKTs), the JAX-WS WS-Security runtime is expecting there to be an XML token. However, for implicit DKTs there is no XML token, so an error occurs. This problem only occurs on fixpack 7.0.0.7.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 users * * of WS-Security enabled JAX-WS web services * * and implicit Derived Key Tokens (DKTs) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When implicit Derived Key Tokens are * * used in JAX-WS Web Services Security, * * a SoapSecurityException error occurs. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When a WS-Secuity enabled JAX-WS web service is configured to use implicit/implied Derived Key Tokens (DKTs) in fixpack 7.0.0.7, a SoapSecurityException error similar to the following may occur: com.ibm.wsspi.wssecurity.core.SoapSecurityException: Null XMLStructure at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.util.XMLStructureHelper.getOMElement at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.wssapi.token.impl.CommonTokenGenerator.inv oke at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.wssapi.CommonContentGenerator.invokeTokenG enerator at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.wssapi.CommonContentGenerator.getKey at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.keyinfo.KeyInfoGenerator.getKey at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.core.WSSGenerator.callSignatureGenerator at com.ibm.ws.wssecurity.core.WSSGenerator.invoke Tokens affected include Kerberos, SAML and custom tokens.
Problem conclusion
When using Derived Key Tokens, the WS-Security runtime expects there to be an XML token. However, there is no XML token for implicit Derived Key Tokens. When the runtime encounters an implicit Derived Key Token, a SoapSecurityException error occurs. The runtime has been updated to properly handle the case of a non-existent XML token for the implicit Derived Key case. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.9.
