While running a JAX-RPC application the following error may
    occur:

"WSWS3227E: Error: Serialization cannot occur for <bean>"

Here is an example from the log:

    WSWS3227E: Error: Exception: WebServicesFault faultCode:
on faultString: java.io.IOException: WSWS3701E: Error: An
exception was encountered. Use the wsdeploy command to deploy
your application. The exception is java.io.IOException:
WSWS3037E: Error: Serialization cannot occur for
    <bean>.

Prior to the exception the trace log indicates that the
soap encoding style on the MessageContext is empty:

    [11/23/09 23:21:43:027 EST] 00000047 MessageContex 1
    com.ibm.ws.webservices.engine.MessageContext
    getEncodingStyle
    MessageContext: getEncodingStyle: encoding is [].

The JAX-RPC specification indicates that the encoding style is
one of the keys which are used to locate the JAX-RPC Serializer
    objects.

Problem conclusion

  • The JAX-RPC runtime uses the encoding style value and the xml
name to locate the JAX-RPC Serializer.

An empty encoding style is an indication that the web service
is accessed using a literal style message.
    An encoding style of
    "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" is an indication
that the web service is accessed using an encoded style message.

In some scenarios the same Serializers may be available for
both literal and encoded web services.

The runtime is changed to search the encoded map if a
Serializer is not found in the the literal map. This change
will ensure that the Serializer is found, which avoids the
    error.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.31 and 7.0.0.11. Please refer to the
