Error description

  • During long run tests with Websphere Service Integration Bus
    (SIBUS), some exceptions show up and freeze the connection to
    the SIBUS,leaving the first message in the queue locked .
    .
    FFDCs generated show the following exception:

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: NullPointerException from *
    *                      JSLocalConsumerPoint.unsetReady,        *
    * preventing consumption of messages *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A field of the JSLocalConsumerPoint object was being accessed
    from the JSLocalConsumerPoint.unsetReady() method, on another
    thread, before the object was fully constructed.

    The issue is most likely to occur when MDB applications
    throw runtime exceptions wile consuming from a destination
    with no exception destination configured. This is because
    the blocking logic enabled when no exception destination
    is configured for a destination accesses a list of
    JSLocalConsumerPoint objects, which might include partially
    constructed ones.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for this APAR updates the
    JSLocalConsumerPoint.unsetReady() method to prevent it from
    attempting to access the uninitialized field.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 6.1.0.33. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
