Closed as program error.
Error description
When running "AdminControl.stopServer(abc, testNode1)" in a WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment edition set up takes more time using the wsadmin scripting tool. This is applicable only if a node agent trace has the following symptom. AdminServiceI > emitTryingToStopProcessNotification Entry AdminServiceI > queryNames Entry WebSphere:type=NodeAgent,node=xxxxx1Node01,* .. <<Some noticeable delay>> .. AdminServiceI < queryNames Exit Stop server request from wsAdmin/adminconsole may take extra time because the dgmr passes generic query string to query the node agent. It doesn't have the process name in it, just "nodeName" attribute and MBean type as "NodeAgent". So this query will be flooded to node agent and all JVMs running under node agent. Please note, however this query names is part of stop server,it doesn't mean that the query names will take most of the time during stop server. We can get query names response in milliseconds normally. In some cases, there may be a delay in getting response for example, a network issue, or anything else between the dmgr and a node. In this case, having a generic query will improve the performance. So this is very specific case. There are also few other factors which will cause delay during stop server.
Local fix
Stop the server using stopServer.sh/bat script (or) using ND console.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: "AdminControl.stopServer(server1, * * testNode1)" in a Network Deployment * * edition configuration takes more time * * using wsadmin. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A stop server request from wsAdmin or the administrative console may take extra time because nodeagent passes a generic query string to query the nodeagent MBean for the node. This means the query string doesn't have a process name in it, it has "nodeName" and MBean type as "NodeAgent". So this query will be flooded across nodeagent process and all application server processes running under nodeagent.
Problem conclusion
Source code has been modified to have specific queryString for the nodeagent to query the nodeagent MBean. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.0.2.43, 6.1.0.33 and 7.0.0.11.
