Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 who use JDBC 4.0 wrapper * * pattern to access an Oracle connection * * * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Trying to access an Oracle connection * * to retrieve a CLOB leads to a * * SQLFeatureNotSupportedException * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** To retrieve a CLOB the Oracle Connection in turn tries to access the underlying 'physicalConnectionWithin' which is a forbidded method that should not be accessed. However since this call on 'physicalConnectionWithin' happens by the OracleConnection and not from the application the method has been removed from the forbidden methods list.
Problem conclusion
The problem has been fixed by removing the 'physicalConnectionWithin' from the forbidden methods list when accessed through the JDBC 4.0 wrapper pattern The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.11.
