Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 7 * * users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Application fails to initialize because * * a Web Services class is not found. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An exception occurs during application initialization: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/jst/j2ee/webservice/wsclient/ServiceRef at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.annotation.WASAnnotationHelper.collectIn jectionTargetClasses(WASAnnotationHelper.java:586) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.annotation.WASAnnotationHelper.collectCl asses(WASAnnotationHelper.java:446) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.annotation.WASAnnotationHelper.<init>(WA SAnnotationHelper.java:136) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.annotation.WASAnnotationHelperManager.ge tAnnotationHelper(WASAnnotationHelperManager.java:59) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebAppImpl.initialize(WebAppImpl. java:246) at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebGroupImpl.addWebApplication(We bGroupImpl.java:100) This is because the ServiceRef class required to initialize a Web Services annotation is not accessible to the WebContainer runtime jar.
Problem conclusion
The manifest file of the WebContainer runtime jar has been modified to import the missing class. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.11.
