Error description

In some cases, a SQLException with ERRORCODE=-4499 and
SQLSTATE=08001 from the DB2 Universal JDBC driver is not
properly mapped to a StaleConnectionException by WebSphere
Application Server.  Because of this, applications are unable to
recover from transient connection errors by catching the
StaleConnectionException and retrying the getConnection() call.

In cases where the problem doesn't occur and the exception is
mapped to the StaleConnectionException, the following output
would be seen in a trace of "RRA=all":

SQLException with ERRORCODE=-4499 and SQLSTATE=08001 from the
DB2 Universal JDBC driver might not be properly mapped to a
StaleConnectionException by WebSphere Application Server.
This might prevent applications from recovering from transient
connection errors by catching the StaleConnectionException and
retrying the getConnection() call.

Problem conclusion

This APAR adds code that ensures the SQLException gets
mapped properly.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.11.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
