PM10845: OBJECTMANAGER USED BY SIBus FILESTORE AND LOTUS EXPEDITOR HANGS UNDER LOAD

Error description

The ObjectManager hangs under load.  A javacore reveals a
thread is stuck with the following stack:

"CheckpointHelper"
at com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ConcurrentHashMap.clear
at com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ObjectManagerState.performCheckpoint
at com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ObjectManagerState.access$500
com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ObjectManagerState$CheckpointHelper.run
at java/lang/Thread.run(Bytecode PC:13)

Local fix

Problem summary

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Under load (high messaging rates)       *
*                      products using the ObjectManager        *
*                      hang and messaging cannot continue.     *

An error in the break condition causes an infinite loop which
results in an apparent hang.  The loop occurs on the
checkpoint helper threads which means no messaging can occur.

A javacore of the system in this state shows the following
thread:

"CheckpointHelper"
at com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ConcurrentHashMap.clear
at com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ObjectManagerState.performCheckpoint
at com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ObjectManagerState.access$500
com/ibm/ws/objectManager/ObjectManagerState$CheckpointHelper.run
at java/lang/Thread.run(Bytecode PC:13)

Problem conclusion

The fix for this APAR corrects the break condition and avoids
the deadlock.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.13.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates

Temporary fix

Restarting the system resolves the problem.
