    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The getRemoteUser API always returns *
    * the fully qualified name for an *
    *                      authenticated user.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    SIP container DIGEST mechanism doesn't comply with WEB
    Container's behavior and always returns the fully qualified
    LDAP name on the getRemoteUser API.

Problem conclusion

  • A new LDAP custom property was introduced:
    com.ibm.webspehere.sip.security.short.login
    Setting it to true will cause the getRemoteUser API to return
    the short name instead of the fully qualified name. This will
    not change the default behavior which is to return the fully
    qulified name. To set the LDAP custom property navigate to:
    Global security, choose configure button next to the LDAP
    repository selection. In this screen there is an option to add
    LDAP custom properties.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 1.0.0.5. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
