  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the JAX-WS WS-Security runtime processes a UsernameToken,
    the token is always validated against the user registry.

    There are cases where it is desirable to not check a
    UsernameToken against the user registry.

    ****************************************************************
    When the JAX-WS WS-Security runtime is configured to use the
    UNTConsumeLoginModule to process a UsernameToken,
    the token is always validated against the user registry.

    There are cases where it is desirable to not check a
    UsernameToken against the user registry.

Problem conclusion

  • The purpose of this update is to allow the user name
    associated with the identity token in an identity assertion
    scenario to pass through the UNTConsumeLoginModule without
    generating a registry error. In this scenario, an identity
    token must not contain a password, and there may, or may not
    be a trust token (blind trust for example).

    This update does not apply to any UsernameToken that contains
    a password. If the user wishes to bypass the registry check
    for a UsernameToken that contains a password, the WebSphere
    supplied UNTConsumeLoginModule cannot be used.

    The following WS-Security custom property is added to
    the UNTConsumeLoginModule to allow the user registry check to
    be skipped for identity tokens:

    com.ibm.wsspi.wssecurity.token.UsernameToken.disableUserRegistry
    Check

    When the property is set to true, the UNTConsumeLoginModule
    will not validate the inbound UsernameToken if, and only if,
    the UsernameToken does not contain a password.

    Valid values for this property are true and false. The default
    value is false. This property is configured as a custom
    property on the UsernameToken consumer callback handler:

    (bindingName)->WS-Security->Authentication and
    Protection->(tokenName)->Callback Handler

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.13. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
