Error description

  • When SAF Authorization is being used with security domains
enabled the following authorization error may be received:

    Trace: 2010/07/16 10:48:22.866 01 t=8C4690 c=UNK key=P8
    (13007002)
      ThreadId: 0000002b
      FunctionName: com.ibm.ws.security.web.WebCollaborator
      SourceId: com.ibm.ws.security.web.WebCollaborator
      Category: AUDIT
      ExtendedMessage: BBOO0222I: SECJ0129E: Authorization failed
for user ibmuser while invoking GET on
    IBM_HOST:Interop/protected/index.jsp, Authorization
failed, Not granted any of the required roles:
    AUTHORIZEDUSER

Although the SECJ0129E message shows ibmuser being denied
access, the corresponding ICH408I message shows that the guest
userid, WSGUEST, is being used to perform the Authorization
    check:

    ICH408I USER(WSGUEST ) GROUP(WSCLGP ) NAME(WAS DEFAULT USER)
    TESTDOM.AUTHORIZEDUSER CL(EJBROLE ) INSUFFICIENT ACCESS
    AUTHORITY ACCESS INTENT(READ ) ACCESS ALLOWED(NONE )

This problem only happens when the following LoginModule is
    present:
    com.ibm.ws.security.common.auth.module.MapPlatformSubject

Local fix

  • Remove com.ibm.ws.security.common.auth.module.MapPlatformSubject
from the Login Configuration in effect where the Authorization
    Failure happens

Problem summary

    * domains with the local OS user registry *
    * and the MapPlatformSubject login module. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The user may be changed to the *
    *                      default unauthenticated user            *
    * resulting in authorization failures. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Due to incorrect logic in the MapPlatformSubject login module,
it may change the user to the default unauthenticated user
when security domains are in use with the local OS user
registry. This login module is no longer installed by
default, but may exist in systems that have migrated from
    earlier versions.

Problem conclusion

  • The code in MapPlatformSubject has been corrected such that it
no longer takes special action when a security domain is in use.

APAR PM19319 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.13 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
