Error description
Messages stop flowing through a WebSphere Application Server Service Integration Bus Link after it has been deleted and recreated.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the default messaging provider for * * IBM WebSphere Application Server * * Version 6.1 and Version 7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Messages stop flowing over an * * inter-bus link, after the foreign bus * * is deleted and recreated on one side * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem only occurs when the inter-bus link is deleted and recreated on one side. The side on which it is deleted and recreated simply continues to operate with the new UUID of the recreated foreign bus. However, when it sends control messages to the other side of the link, it is unable to process the responses, as they come back with the old UUID of the foreign bus before it was recreated. The replies are silently discarded, so there are no error messages to identify this issue.
Problem conclusion
The fix for this APAR changes the code handling the inter-bus link control messages, so that it returns replies with the correct new UUID of the foreign bus, which can be processed successfully. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 6.1.0.37 and 7.0.0.15.
